triplebogey

Creative efforts of late have been stifled by a bout with laziness.
This is what has spawned from playing lots and lots of Tiger Woods 2009...

School started today...seems alright.

Give It Style

This was done today in photoshop.

I got hooked looking at some WW2 war time posters here... And decided to try something out. Got to experiment with how colors work, some layer masking and a little bit of experimentation with different texture simulations with the filtering tool.

I'm planning a few more re-takes on other WW2 era posters/propaganda and also later on a texture pack. Gonna try to simulate stuff like metals and rocks and concrete and such... all plans for future experiments.

I watched Pineapple Express tonight. Good Movie, totally a bro movie through. This movie and some cold beer is all you need for some good laughs.

Where Eagles Dare

Current Project: ODD COG XML BLOG
Progress: DAY 6/COMPLETE
Work Done: XML Fed Blog data/New Banner(adobe photoshop)

Woohoo. Alright so the ODD COG BLOG layout/design is done. The first version anyway, many more to come. But I'm ready to close to the books here and say that my XML blog is fully operational, and able to deliver content.

You can see that I made a post yesterday on the website declaring it operational.

I spruced up the .css a little and what you get is the end product. Observe a new banner as well, it was made to accommodate for the recent width increase. I don't know how many people still use 800x600, not my target audience... So I bumped up my width too 900px. And along came this new banner which took about an hour. It was supposed to be so much more but I'm still a little limited in terms of ability with Adobe Photoshop. I have been playing around with it almost daily, trying to get a tutorial done every day... but still can't manufacture quality stuff... Soon folks, soon.

That's today's deliverables. Stay posted for more crappy photoshop work. Next project is the ODDCOG sponsored Race car. :3

Train kept a rollin'

Last night was a great.

The smoothie partay was awesome. In all we made three different types of smoothies.
The first was a double Strawberry/Vanilla mixture, made by a new friend named D. (whom I was introduced to last night) The second was Krysta's which was a blueberry fiesta. She made is so thick the blender wouldn't even move or mix the contents. We had to thin it with some surplus milk. And the third, (and best in my own opinion) was mine. A mango/orange/raspberry mixture. gonna have to get the recipe down for that in future attempts.

D also cooked everyone crepes afterward. They were delicious and went well with our surplus fruit.
I also learned how to play a neat little card game called munchkins. I didn't win...

So today we're finally getting onto reading that blasted CSS book. having a hard time with the intro stuff because it's just touching on stuff I already know... I'm not one for skipping ahead because I know there is some content in there that will be of use, and there has been.
If I stay on track today we should see a fancier version of the website up by tomorrow. All thanks to some CSS tweaks.

...'til next time. :3

800 Degrees

So today, no work is getting done...

I took a break to play and beat Call of Duty 4.
Its a short little game with plenty of fun. Very cinematic. If I played through again I'd use more weapons, I kind of limited myself to what worked, and I liked the Sniper Rifle/Assault Rifle combo. I still got to play with a list of other weapons but those classes were great for killin' mercenaries.
Anyway, I got a taste of the online play and I must say it is quite the piece of work. It's probably the bigger reason to get the game. Very fast paced with plenty of perks to keep you playing. Customizable weapons, player class building, special abilities... etc. (all of this is of course unlocked by an experienced based system.)

Today's break is much in part due to me getting the framework done for the XML blog project.
Last night, I wrote the XML, loaded it into Adobe Dreamweaver and then used spry widgets to control the data manipulation so that the right column would update as content from the left column gets clicked. It was pretty fun, I plan to expand the postings a bit, get some actual content in there soon. Along with some fancying up with .CSS...still haven't gotten around to reading my book....

Take a look...

Audrey and Artillery.

Current Project: ODD COG XML BLOG
Progress: DAY 3
Work Done: New Banner/Photoshop

So we haven't really gotten any work done on the website in terms of designing the XML DB.

BUT, I did learn a wealth of stuff in Photoshop last night. My knowledge of the application and how to use it is growing steadily. I was hardly able to sleep last night, my mind full of wondrous projects I could launch.

So today I created a new banner for the site using Photoshop. "Audrey/Artillery"

The two source images are here and here

I used hue/saturation mask on audrey's mugshot after cropping it from the original. And a channel color mixer mask was used on the flak 88 artillery gun. Threw in a little BG for highlight and you have my new banner.

Adobe Flash crashed on me too, today. I was so upset, I was working on an animation for the artillery gun, which was going to replace the new banner altogether. It was meant to be a little prettier, and flashier, but since my app crashed before I even saved my progress I trashed the project and just went with the image.
...I might come back to the animation in the future...

So with the rest of my day I intend to get some more knowledge on .css, and maybe start designing my dummy XML file for the DB

Alright, tomorrow is smoothie party with Krysta! yay.

Moving along

Alright,

Current Project: ODD COG XML BLOG
Progress: DAY 1

So today we actually got some work done.
A friend of mine got me some webspace to host my content. So now I can show everyone what I'm up too. Check it out here

My current project is developing an xml driven blog.
It doesn't sound very exciting but its a great way for me to get a grasp on how to work all the fantastic web design applications I'll be using throughout my career. Hopefully after we get it up and running it'll be the new host site for future projects of ODD COG!

So the idea is to build my own database to support data collection for a simple blog posting. Date, topic, text, and maybe html fields that link to images.
I'm going to try to implement an xml transfer between the DB and my blog site so that Spry applications from Dreamweaver load the DB information onto my blog page.

It might sound crude or rough, but if i get this working i'll be amazed with myself...

Today I did some rough layout work. The website still looks kinda crappy, that's because I'm having a problem with my creative content, and in that I'm having a hard time becoming creative.
But hopefully, with time, the blog will become more attractive in appearance.

I also did some vector work. I created an animated logo that wont load at the top of my webpage for some reason... when I get that to work then all will be able see my crappy unimaginative animations.

...off to do some more hacking around in css. or...maybe play some more Valkyria Chronicles.
